How to spot it

What to do now

  1. End the call before paying or approving access.
  2. Read the full UK fake Google listing calls guide and check the Business Profile through your usual account.

If you already paid or shared details

Call your bank immediately on the number on your card. After hanging up, 159 reaches participating UK banks; coverage and charges vary. Secure the business account through the genuine service if you shared an access code.

PSR rules require UK banks and payment firms to refund most eligible authorised push payment scam losses from UK Faster Payments transfers made on or after 7 October 2024, up to £85,000 per claim. Exceptions apply; cards, cash, international and crypto payments are not automatically covered. Ask the bank about eligibility, any excess and deadlines.

Keep payment references. In England, Wales and Northern Ireland report to Report Fraud (formerly Action Fraud); in Scotland, Police Scotland on 101. Forward suspicious SMS texts to 7726 and emails to report@phishing.gov.uk.
